The wind blew softly behind them, carrying the scent of incense and fresh flowers from the temple steps. Avani sat there, leaning lightly against the old stone column, her back pressed to it for some relief. She took another bite, placing it in her mouth gently. The warm softness of the rice mixed with jaggery lingered on her tongue like a forgotten memory she didn’t know she missed.
