The morning light filtered through the kitchen window, casting a soft glow on the counter where Ashvini stood stirring a pot of curry. The familiar scent of spices filled the air, but to Avani, it felt heavy with unspoken worry.
"Ma, please," Avani's voice was soft, almost pleading, as she stood behind her mother. "We need to go to the hospital. You’ve been unwell for a week now. It’s getting worse.
Ashvini’s movements didn’t falter as she gently stirred the pot, her expression calm, though Avani could sense the tension beneath her mother’s quiet demeanor.
"Ma, you’re ignoring me again." Avani stepped closer, her tone filled with concern. "You can’t keep putting this off. What if something happens?"
Ashvini finally turned, her eyes kind but tired, a small, reassuring smile tugging at her lips. She reached out, gently cupping Avni’s cheek. "Avani," she said softly, her thumb stroking her daughter's face in a tender gesture, "the boss is coming today. You know how important that is. and I need to go , there is so much work, i can't takes leave."
Avani stood in silence, her mind racing. After a long pause, she finally spoke, her voice gentle. "Okay, Mom... if today is so important, then let me come with you. I’ll help you at work, and after that, we can go to the hospital together.
Ashvini glanced at her daughter, her brow furrowing slightly. "Avani, you have your studies to focus on. I can’t let you skip for this."
Avani shook her head, her resolve growing. "Ma, my studies can wait for today. You can’t keep ignoring your health, and if the boss is coming, you’ll need help. Let me be there with you. Once everything is done, we’ll go to the hospital together, okay?"
Ashvini’s eyes softened again, her hand resting on Avani’s shoulder. "I don’t want you to worry about me, dear. I’ve managed this long alone ."
"I know," Avani replied, her voice unwavering, "but I’m not asking, Ma. I’m coming with you. We’ll get through today, but after that, we’re going to the hospital. Please."
Her mother sighed, the weight of her daughter’s words lingering in the air. “Avani, this is my responsibility. You can’t just—"
"I won’t let you go !” Avani interrupted, her determination igniting a spark in her chest.
She let out a soft sigh, her gentle smile returning. "Alright," she said quietly, "we’ll go together. You can help me at work today, and after, we’ll see the doctor but ,you must promise me not to overdo it. You always have a knack for creating problems.”
“I promise, Ma. Just cleaning and helping. That’s it,” Avani replied, relief flooding her voice.

As Avani stepped into the mansion, her breath caught in her throat. The grandeur of the place was overwhelming. Towering gray walls rose majestically, adorned with intricate carvings that spoke of a rich history. Sunlight streamed through the large, arched windows, casting a soft glow on the polished marble floors.
Avani couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty around her. This was a world so different from her own, a place that seemed to breathe luxury and refinement.
For a moment, she felt a twinge of envy, but it quickly faded, replaced by wonder. As she walked further inside, she silently vowed to work hard and create a better life for herself and her mother.
“This way, Avani,” her mother said, her voice gentle but firm as she led her toward the kitchen.
Inside the bustling kitchen, her mother introduced her to the head maid, a stern woman with sharp eyes who greeted them with a nod. “You must be Avani,” the woman said, eyeing her critically. “Your mother speaks highly of you. " Avani smile gently while greeting the head maid .
"Now, get to work. There’s much to do before the boss arrives. Ashvini first help the chief for preparing food and after that you have to clean the backside door of garden."
Ashvini nodded quickly, her expression tense as she glanced at Avani. She turned to her daughter, pulling her aside. "Avani, listen carefully. I need you to stay away from the main hall. Go clean the doors in the back garden and do not—under any circumstance—come in front of the boss."Though her tone was firm, the worry in her voice was unmistakable.
“But why, Ma? What’s wrong?” she asked, sensing the fear beneath her mother’s usual calmness.
Ashvini hesitated before responding, her gaze avoiding Avani’s. "I’ve never seen him myself," she admitted softly, "but I’ve heard things. The other staff… they say he’s not a kind man. He hasn't been here in two years, but when he comes, the whole place changes. Just stay out of his way, alright?the door It opens right from the mansion—stay there until I come for you.”
Ashvini glanced at Avani, her eyes filled with concern. “Stay out of sight from the boss. Just focus on your tasks.” Though her tone was firm, the worry in her voice was unmistakable.
"Okay, Ma," she whispered, her voice heavy with concern. She grabbed the cleaning supplies and made her way toward the back doors, but the uneasy feeling wouldn’t leave her.
Why was everyone so afraid of him? Why hadn’t he been here in two years? And why was she, someone who had never even met him, being told to hide? i to do not want to see him as she thought, and start finding the back side door.
After wandering aimlessly, she stopped, her heart pounding in her chest. Just then, she spotted a helper approaching from the other end of the hallway. The girl wore a simple uniform, and her warm smile felt like a beacon of hope in the oppressive silence.
“Excuse me,” Avani said, her voice trembling slightly. “Can you help me? I have to clean the back door of garden, but I can’t seem to find it.”
The helper’s smile widened, and she nodded with understanding. “Of course! The garden door is a bit hidden. It’s just around the corner.” She pointed down the hall with a gentle hand, guiding Avani’s gaze.
Avani felt a rush of relief. “Thank you so much,”
“No problem at all,” the girl replied, her tone light. “The mansion can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers.”
With a renewed sense of purpose, Avani smiled back, grateful for the support. As the helper turned to leave, Avani felt a warmth in her chest, knowing she wasn’t completely alone in this vast place. With clearer directions, she made her way to the back, determined to complete her tasks and help her mother as best as she could.
Avani stood in front of the towering glass door, feeling overwhelmed, it is transparent from inside but can't see from outside.“This is going to take forever to clean,” she thought, a mix of frustration and dread settling in her chest. She took a cloth, squirted soap onto it, and started wiping the glass. The soap glided over the surface, leaving streaks behind, but it felt like an endless task.
As she struggled to reach the top, irritation bubbled inside her. “Why is it so tall?” she muttered, her arms growing tired. After several attempts, she grabbed a wiper to make the job easier. She swiped it across the glass, but it still felt slow, and the sight of the uncleaned areas only added to her frustration.
In a moment of impatience, she picked up a bucket of water and threw it at the door, hoping to wash away her troubles. Just then, the trouble start the door swung open, and a person stood there, drenched from head to toe.
