Avani pvo///
My breath caught, frozen in horror, as I looked up to see a towering man standing there, his entire presence dominating the space.
He was tall far taller than anyone I'd ever met and his powerful build was accentuated by a dark, well-fitted suit that only heightened his air of danger. But it was his eyes that truly paralyzed me.
His grey eyes, cold and piercing, seemed to lock onto mine with an intensity that felt as if he could see straight into my soul.
There was something dangerously beautiful about them, an allure that drew me in even though every instinct screamed at me to look away, to run.
Say something, apologize! Thoughts run in my head, but terror holds me captive. All that I could do was stand there helplessly staring into those icy grey eyes.
My hands trembled slightly as I grabbed the bucket tightly, turning my knuckles white with an effort to balance myself upright.
He was wet through and standing there staring at me, face impassive, unreadable. Was he mad? Amused?
He took a step closer, and instinctively I took one back. In one swift motion, his hand shot out and gripped my arm as his fingers wrapped around my arm like an iron vice while the bucket fell from my trembling hand and clattered to the floor.
He roughly pulled me closer to him where I stumbled; I slammed into his chest,
My heart pounded, thudding so loudly I was sure he could feel it.
"I-I'm sorry," I stammered, my voice small and shaky, the words spilling out. "I didn't mean to-it was an accident, I swear. I didn't do that intentionally. I didn't see you. I'm sorry. P-please, let go."
I tried to twist my arm free, but his grip only tightened, and a sharp, startled gasp escaped me. My fear felt like a living thing now, clawing at my insides, making it hard to think. I can feel his strength in his hold if he wanted he could easily crash me.
His eyes slowly traveled all over my face, like he was taking every detail. I felt like I was being examined. The intensity of his stare made me feel exposed as if he could read every thought running through my mind. I swallowed hard, trying not to flinch as his gaze lingered on my trembling lips.
"Your name," he said, his voice low and dangerously smooth.
I hesitated, confusion mixing with my fear. Why was he asking my name? My breath hitched at the thought. He's going to complain about me. My heart sank, as new fear washed over me. I had messed up so badly. They will fire my mother. She will lose her job, and it will be all my fault.
"A-Avani," I whispered, barely able to get the words out.
“Please, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to throw water on you, It was an accident, I sorry please don't complain about me," I said all in one breath.
He didn't say anything for a moment, just kept his eyes locked on mine, watching me like a predator.
“Avani,”
He repeated slowly, almost tasting the name on his tongue. The way he said it sent a shiver down my spine, as though he had taken my name and made it his own.
As he moved closer, I struggled to pull free, twisting and yanking my arm as hard as I could, he didn't let go and his grip on my arm tightened. Panic went through me, his hold only became firmer, his fingers digging into my skin with a force that made me wince.
His face was inches from mine now, his breath warm against my skin. He lowered his head, his lips hovering dangerously close, so close I could almost feel them brushing against mine. My heart raced, pounding wildly against my ribcage as terror twisted inside me.
I struggled harder, my breath coming out short now, but he didn't budge. The fear rushed through me, He only pulled me more against him, and his hand slipped around my waist, holding me in place.
A single tear rolled down my cheek, quick and hot. I tightly closed my eyes. My entire body was shaking, and I couldn't breathe past the lump of fear lodged in my throat. I was trapped in his hold, waiting, expecting the worst, feeling his grip on my waist tighten.
But then... nothing.
The grip on my waist disappeared, the oppressive weight of his presence lifted, and I slowly opened my eyes, blinking away the tears.
My legs weakened. I slid down the wall that was next to me, I struggled to steady my breath. My heart pounded in my chest, the fear was still there gripping me. My hands trembled as I clutched at my clothes, trying to make sense of what had just happened.
Who is he? The question consumed me. One moment, his suffocating presence was there and the next moment he was gone, disappearing like a shadow.
I wiped the tears from my cheeks, but the cold weight of his touch still lingered on my arm and chin. His grey eyes and their piercing intensity left me shaken.
After some time, I forced myself to get up and tried to steady my shaking hands. I have to finish my work.
I went back to cleaning, my movements mechanical, my mind racing. Once done, I walked toward the kitchen, I quickly wiped my face again, straightened my posture, and plastered on a neutral expression.
I couldn't tell my mom what had happened. She wasn't feeling well already, and I didn't want her to worry.
As I entered the kitchen, my mom was finishing up her last task. She turned to me with a surprised look. "Why did you come here? I told you to wait for me back there!"
"I had finished my work so I thought I'd help you a little," I replied softly.
She sighed, shaking her head. “ It's fine now. The boss has arrived too, and I've finished my work. Let's go.”
We left the mansion together and headed towards the hospital.
At the hospital, the doctor did some tests on my mom. We sat in the waiting area for what felt like hours, the silence heavy between us. I kept glancing at her, she smiled slightly at me saying everything would be fine.
My thoughts drifted back to the man with the intense gray eyes. Suddenly, I felt a jerk in my hand.
"Mom!" I shouted, catching her just at the time she fainted.
